Welcome to the LACA-ABCr 2025 Joint Meeting
On behalf of the organizing committee, we are pleased to invite you to the LACA-ABCr 2025 Joint Meeting, an exceptional gathering of the crystallographic community in Latin America. This event combines the 27th Brazilian Crystallographic Association (ABCr) meeting with the 7th Latin American Crystallographic Association (LACA) meeting, enhancing the exchange of ideas and advancing the field of crystallography across the region.
The program will feature esteemed national and international speakers presenting recent breakthroughs in various areas of crystallographic research and leading discussions on emerging trends. Participants will also have the chance to engage in specialized minicourses led by experts, providing young researchers—particularly graduate students—with essential knowledge in structural characterization techniques.
To support the development of the next generation of crystallographers, we are working diligently to provide funding assistance, especially to young researchers and students. ABCr and LACA remain dedicated to fostering emerging talent and building collaborative networks within the Latin American scientific community.
Join us in a welcoming, interdisciplinary environment designed to inspire, connect, and strengthen the crystallographic community. The LACA-ABCr 2025 Joint Meeting is a unique opportunity to share knowledge, foster collaborations, and advance the field of crystallography across Latin America. We look forward to gathering with you as we shape the future of this dynamic discipline together!
Gender, inclusivity and diversity statement
The organizing committee for the 27th meeting of the Brazilian Crystallographic Association and the 7th meeting of the Latin American Crystallographic Association declares its commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusivity during the meeting and satellite events in agreement with the scope of the associations regarding the stimulation and furthering of structural sciences and the exchange between scientists in the region and the world.
To fulfill this commitment, we will ensure gender balance and geographical diversity in the International Scientific Committee in confidence that it will help reduce bias and carry out the following policy.
For LACA-ABCr 2025 we commit to:
A minimum of 40 % female chairs in micro symposia and oral speakers.
At least one oral contribution from a scientist from every Latin American country present in the meeting.
Distributing bursaries for young scientists ensuring geographical diversity and gender. In the latter, we will distribute bursaries in accordance with gender distribution within the applicants only if there is at least a 30 % of female applicants.
With these measures we hope to support the professional growth and advancement of every scientist present by making the meeting more diverse and inclusive, where ideas are exchanged with the utmost respect for each other.
Both LACA, ABCr and the organizing committee fully agree with the IUCr Gender Equity and Diversity Statement and the IUCr Gender Equity and Diversity Committee Code of Conduct. If you are planning to attend the meeting, we urge you to read them and respect them. The LACA-ABCr 2025 organizing committee reserves the right to prohibit those who contravene the code of conduct from attending the meeting.
Gender and Diversity contact person for the meeting is Prof. Maria Cristina Nonato ([email protected]), feel free to contact her if any issues that make you uncomfortable arise.
